Katari is a representation of the meaning of my name, the two headed dragon serpent from Andean culture in Aymara language. This sculpture brings the mythological being into a tangible realm. Inspired by the varied representations of this being through pre-Columbian cultures over the span of 6,000 years, it speaks of the cultural continuum as interconnected Indigenous peoples. Katari is an exploration of myself through various stages and moments of my life. It is a reflection on the processing of feelings and ideas through the creative process.
